Ken Sewell
Ken Sewell earned a Ph.D. in physics, a MS in Aeronautical Engineering and spent several years in the defense industry developing equipment to assist our troops and aviators in being able to see and fight night and day.
He is a Bible student and teacher, and is known throughout the Churches of Christ as a mission leader. He co-authored and published a slide series for home Bible study in the sixties and has continued to seek better approaches to evangelism through his books. His goal as a fiction writer was to provide fast action stories in which Christians are caught up in a struggle with evil. His second novel Moving Mountains is also a thriller in the same vein as the first. His extensive experience in the aerospace industry and his training as an engineer-physicist supplied the background for his first two novels, Code Bravery and Moving Mountains.
Sewell prepared or his writing by taking writing courses, participating in critique groups, and writing non-fiction articles (published in Gospel Advocate, Action, The Lithuania Reporter, and others). He is currently focusing on books which will aid those seeking God as well as those seeking to lead others to Christ and His Father.
The Thinkers Discuss book series currently has two books designed to assist those with little or no Bible background in understanding how Christianity relates to their lives. The first book, The Bible, Truth or Lies represents a new approach to apologetics due to two major differences that separate this book from a host of excellent books. First, the material is presented as a discussion between a believer and a non-believer. Second, the only source of proof is the Bible itself. There are no references to scholarly tomes which are difficult to read. The premise is: if the Bible is true, then it must be self-consistent. Each topic discussed examines how it is treated both in the Old Testament and the New Testament to determine if it is treated consistently. The reader must then judge for himself
or herself if the Bible is consistent and therefor truly from God. The book contains thirteen chapters and each chapter includes thought and discussion question.
The second Thinkers Discuss book is entitled Christianity, Its Beginning. Christianity did not exist until after Christ died, was resurrected, and ascended to Heaven and the apostles begin to teach his words. Where better to understand Christianity than the words of Christ? This book begins by interweaving the four gospel accounts into one along with the book of Acts. Each part contains thought and discussion questions.
The third Thinkers Discuss book is a collection of short stories describing how contact with Jesus changed several of the New Testament characters. The characters are real, but the scriptual encounters have been enhanced by what probably happened, so I term them fiction. Meet again Blind Bartimaeus, Simon the Leper and others. Check out Changed!
The Most Wonderful Story contains the interwoven gospel accounts of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John without headings, chapters, or verses. It designed as a reading experience for those who love the story.
