I am a member of the church of Christ, his body, established by Jesus the Christ on the Pentecost following his death, burial and resurrection because:
· We try to follow Jesus’ command to his disciples, i.e., “go and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Teach them to observe everything I have commanded you, and lo, I am always with you even until the end of the world.”
· We believe what Jesus meant what he said when he told his disciples, “Go into the entire world, and preach the good news to every person. Whoever believes and is baptized shall be saved, but whoever doesn’t believe shall be condemned.”
· We believe Peter was following this command when he said to believers, “Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ, and you shall receive the forgiveness of your sins and the gift of the Holy Spirit. This promise is to you, to your children, and to all that are far away, everyone the Lord our God calls.”
· We believe that if we follow Jesus and Peter, we can accept Jesus as the Son of God repent (change to follow Jesus’ commands), and be baptized to receive forgiveness of our sins and the gift of the Holy Spirit.
· We believe that we must assemble with other Christians to worship God and that we must worship as individuals and anything that hinders our individual worship should be avoided. Our assembled worship includes singing, praying, teaching, giving, and remembering Jesus’s death, burial, resurrection and coming again through the Lord’s Supper.
· We welcome everyone to our assembly, however, we do not condone nor accept anyone who continues to openly sin without repentance.
· We believe Christ is the head of the church and anyone who believes, repents, confesses, and is baptized is added to that church by Jesus the Christ.
